Burnt Noodle
What is it? And who burnt the noodle?
Maybe those two questions are one in the same.
An attempt to describe what is going on here.
A babble by Paul Lamb
BN is deep psychedelic music. Space rock with little attention paid to boundaries. A collective of fearless musicians who can hit a groove or 'go wide' in deep echo drenched spaced out theater of the mind. Sometimes we improvise spoken word stories and music simultaneously to great effect.
My 'real job' is recording engineer, sometime producer, and sometime bass player. If these discs were recorded at a studio for hire they would have never been made. They are made in spare time as a labor of love.
The Moog synthesizer and Mellotron are 2 cool things and I am lucky to own these tools. Things like cellos and Hammond organs are cool too and it's nice to know people who can play them.
Burnt noodle has produced 2 full length CDs. ‘The Noodle and the Damage Done’ and ‘Next Exit’. There was a cassette only limited edition release in Germany of live stuff called ‘Joey’s Day Off’. This will be released in CD form in the near future.
The band was once simply called Noodle. A fellow music producer, friend and guitar player Gregory Haldan called one night and said a local pub had a cancellation and did I want to just go and jam? Sure! We called our drummer friend, Rich Sherwood. On the way there it was suggested we were only going to go and noodle. Soon we had a jam with Tom Hardy. He could sing . And he had some songs. We sounded good but most surprising of all it was the flock mentality that happened when we four played. We could turn on a dime and we seemed to constantly know where the others were going. It was an epic experience for us all.
The name Noodle stuck for a couple of years until a band from NY contacted us and said THEY were Noodle. Whatever.
